Everything You Want to Know Before You Hit the Road

Planning group travel should be exciting, not confusing. Whether you’re booking a 12–15 passenger Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van for a family trip, wedding, corporate event, sports team, church group, airport run, or weekend getaway, we want you to know exactly what to expect. From mileage and pickup details to insurance, seating, luggage, deposits, and returning your van, we’ve answered the questions customers ask us most. Seattle Van Rental Co. is based in Redmond and serves Seattle and the surrounding Eastside communities, with one simple goal: make renting the right passenger van easy, transparent, and stress-free.

  • Our 15-passenger Sprinter (Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 High Roof) seats 14 passengers plus the driver — 15 people total.

  • The Sprinter is meaningfully longer than a standard 15-passenger Ford Transit, which means there’s useful luggage room behind the back row even with all 15 seats installed — enough for a full set of bags without stacking them on passengers’ laps. See photos of the interior above for reference.

  • Both are great vans — the Sprinter is just the upgrade. It’s taller (nearly 6 ft 2 in of standing height inside), longer, quieter, and more refined throughoutThe turbodiesel engine is more efficient on long highway hauls, and the interior is built to a Mercedes standard: leather seats with individual headrests, the 10.25″ MBUX touchscreen, adaptive cruise, 360-camera, and blind spot assist all standard. If you want the most comfortable 15-passenger van you can rent, the Sprinter is it.

  • Yes. If you hold a valid driver’s license (not a learner’s permit), you can legally drive a 15-passenger Sprinter rental. No CDL or special license required.

  • Every 15-passenger Sprinter has four rows of seating behind the driver and front passenger seats.

  • Our renters typically see 22 mpg — meaningfully better than what you’ll get from any comparable gas-powered passenger van.

  • Diesel only — the green-handled pumps at most major gas stations. We brief every renter on this at pickup so nobody ends up at the wrong nozzle. The tank holds 24.5 gallons.

  • Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) is used to reduce emissions in our diesel-powered Sprinter vans. If the DEF warning light comes on, there’s no need to panic. The van will alert you well before the tank is empty, giving you approximately 500 miles to refill it.DEF is widely available at most auto parts stores, many gas stations, and truck stops. If you need to top it off during your trip, simply purchase any brand of DEF and add it to the DEF tank under the hood. If you’re not sure how to refill it, give us a call and we’ll be happy to walk you through it

  • Cancellations within 48-24 hrs of the rental start date will be charged 50% of the rental fee, anything less than 24 hrs will be charged full rental fee. We can always try to see if re-scheduling is an option based on availability and as long as its not on the same day as of the rental start date. All other cancellations outside of the 48 hour window get a full refund, but we appreciate that you dont wait till the last minute to make any changes.

  • We require a full coverage personal auto policy through a major provider. Full coverage consists of general liability, comprehensive, and collision coverage. You do not need specific dollar amounts of coverage, you just need to have full coverage. Some examples of acceptable carriers are: Statefarm, Progressive, Geico, Allstate, Pemco, Travelers, Safeco, American family, Amica. This is not an exhaustive list. If you do not see your insurance carrier listed, please call before booking! It is no fun to show up to rent with improper insurance. We do not take same day insurance sign ups or same day policy changes to add full coverage. Your full coverage must be added at least one week before your rental date!! The safety of our customers and our vehicles is our #1 concern!
